Does the contractor use nails or screws?
Most reputable fence builders use screws because they are sturdier. However, nails are less expensive and are usually quicker to install so that can result in a lower quote.
How thick are the pickets included in the quote?
Standard pickets usually are 5/8 inch thick. These are less expensive but are also less weather and pet resistant. 3/4 inch pickets are slightly more expensive but are sturdier and usually increase the curb appeal of a home.
What grade of pickets are used?
K2 provides #2 grade pickets for all of our fence installations.
